Steelhead Alley River Report

The weather has been beautiful this week! Lake Erie Tributaries are all at fishable flows with the exception of the Grand River (couple of days). The guys have covered alot of water so far with mixed results. Not alot of fresh fish around and the steelhead that are in the rivers are scattered nicely. Everyone has had a serious case of cabin fever and the streams currently have a ton of angler pressure. Good news is that at least a very small push of fresh fish are moving up river on a few of the area tribs.

Brendan with his first steelhead on the fly.
Changing flies frequently has produced good results. Flies that have been productive for us so far are Chicken Littles, Ice Man Minnows, White/Pearl Buggers, Sucker Spawns in White, Yellow, Cream, and orange. Small stone fly nymphs and attractors such as wiggle stones, phyco princes, smurf stones, and pheasant tails are also good choices.
This buck took Pat's Chicken little streamer. Senyo's Ice Man minnows have taken its fair share of fish as well.
Even a few Lake Erie bone fish.... LOL!
We are on the rivers daily from here on out, and will try to have reports up each evening if possible. If you need a river update or are interested in fishing with us please call us at 888-453-5899 or email us at team@steelheadalleyoutfitters.com. I will check emails as frequent as possible. Have a great spring and hopefully we will see you along the river.
If you are interested in some of our featured fly patterns, the Orvis News recently ran articles on the Robinson's Chicken Little and Senyo's Ice Man Minnow tube flies. If you are into tying your own flies, all recipes and step by step instructions can be found at http://www.steelheadalleyflytying.blogspot.com/ for all patterns we currently use while guiding.
Until Next Time!
