Going Mad!

Sorry we have not blogged in awhile! Between work, fly orders, and speaking engagements we have had little time for much else... Well instead of fishing what little bit of open water is available on the Alley right now, Mike spent a few days swinging and stripping big nasties on the Mad River in western Ohio. I can honestly say I was pretty jealous after seeing a few pics from his weekend.

A nice Mad River brown trout that
smacked Mike's Meal Ticket Streamer.

Another Mad River Brown...

Mike Schmidt's Meal Ticket Streamer. I am sure Mike will
get a fly tutorial up on this pattern in the near future, until
then you can find them at http://www.anglerschoiceflies.com.

You have got to love cold hands!

If you are interested in fishing the Mad River or need current river reports, please give us a call.

Now for alittle bit on the Alley! The temperatures are starting to rise and hope fully we will see open water is a week or two... Our spring steelhead season is literally right around the corner. If you are thinking of spending a day or two on the tributaries don't hesitate to give us a call... Even if you just need a river report that what we are here for..419-466-9382..
We will be at the Ohio Central Basin Steelheader's west side meeting tomorrow providing a demonstration on tying tube flies for Lake Erie Steelhead, and then off to Erie, PA for fly tying at the Lake Erie Ultimate Angler over the weekend. (More info on these events can be found on the side bar of this blog.)

We'll have more for you later!

A New Look For A New Year!

SAO's New Custom Logo and Decal!! (c)SAO 2010
Over the past year we were looking around for the image that would become the new decal and logo for Steelhead Alley Outfitters!! Since we could not find what we were looking for we turned to a professional artist for help... Since it's release I was over whelmed will the excited feedback we are receiving, and I'm very glad everyone is liking the new logo. In truth all the credit for a job well done goes to Matt Zudweg over at http://www.boneyardflygear.com/. Matt's art work is simply amazing and we are extremely grateful for the hard work and quality time invested in this project.

Coming very soon we will have custom SAO Decals, Stickers, Hats, and Shirts available through our online fly shop. I know many have asked for these items in the past, well pretty soon we will have them for you...

Several more great fly tying tutorials will go up through out the month from the guys! If you like to tie custom bugs check it out at http://www.steelheadalleyflytying.blogspot.com/.

Our spring Steelhead calender is filling so please don't wait to book your dates with our staff of guides. If you have any questions regarding fly fishing the Lake Tributaries for steelhead don't hesitate to call us at 419-466-9382.

If you are interested in Lake Erie's Summer Small Mouth Bass, I will be at the Cleveland Orvis Store providing a crash course on Smallie's on the fly with Orvis fly Fishing Mgr. Jim Lampros. Information on this event can be found on the side bar of this blog..

Most of the tributaries are slushed out and/or locked up again, so get out and enjoy the coming events at your local fly shops! Spring Steelhead is right around the corner...

Tight Lines!
