King of the day Conner Carrol with a nice Ohio Buck!
Today was a great day to be on the water! Air temperatures this morning was mild instead of freezing and very little of the forecasted rain fell on the region. Our streams are really really low right now and we could use a small dose of precipitation to keep the water levels up. We also need rain and higher water to bring in the many silver fish in Lake Erie waiting to migrate into the area rivers. Even with the less than ideal conditions the fishing was still good and clients took advantage of every hook up.
The usual suspects were good producer's today. Small sucker spawn and single eggs, micro stone fly imitations, Pat's Smurf stone and Chicken little pattern, and stripping and swinging small streamers all produced fish. I talked with Pat early in the morning and to all our amazement several steelhead were taking stone flies stuck in the surface film, I personally have never seen steelhead hit bugs on the surface ever on Erie tributaries, so it was a pretty Awesome sight to see the pool boil with fish this morning.
Just about the entire team is on the river the rest of the week, so look back often for more info on the alley. Its never too late to get out on the river!
