Low Is The Flow... Steelhead Alley Fishing Report!

Sorry guys for the lack of blogging this week! It has been super busy with a lot of hiking and nearly the whole team steam side again this week! On the flip side some hefty and beautiful fish were brought to the net and a lot of happy and tired anglers were whooping it up on the way back to the hotels and Airport! Its been a tough November with low water conditions and fish spread out pretty thin on the Ohio and Pennsylvania tributaries. Still it has been a lot of fun covering a ton of water and hunting some real bruiser steelhead. The past couple of days have been extremely warm, and I can't remember guiding and fishing in a t-shirt in November? It has paid off to think small, using #14 and #16 natural colored nymphs and pastel colored egg patterns. Light tippets as low as 5X were needed and longer leaders paid off in a big way. Patterns such as the Chicken Hawk (see our fly tutorials page) were constant producers, along will KW's Catt nymphs. Small #12 sparse tied Ice Man Minnows also caught a fair share of fish. Here are just a few of this weeks photos from Steelhead Alley, most of the SAO guys are pretty exhausted and will get a few more of those pictures up during the week.. Pat and John are on the water tomorrow so we will get you another update then...
Only a group photo could do this beast some justice!

Rain is in the forecast for Tuesday, and we desperately need every bit of it to push in fresh fish. The season is off to a great start and with rain it should only get better!
